Learn from my fail! Don't write anything on Novel Factory. I admit, it's story templates and plotting guides are great. But I just lost maybe 6-10 hours of progress typing into it. It's easy to lose track of time when I write, but I easily lost a few pages just now. Dag. A few pages is a lot when you were feeling good about what you wrote! Don't make my mistake. Especially since it costs $75/year!

Yikes! I'm sorry this happened to you--and appreciate that you took the time to warn others.

ASAP, take some time to write what you remember. Don't expect perfection, just jot down an overview, some good phrases, what your characters are doing, saying, thinking, whatever comes to you. What you wrote and lost there cannot be recaptured, it sounds like, but it can be recreated in another form that isn't identical.

I once lost an entire novel when a hard drive failed (this was at the dawn of time; I didn't have email!) and was able to redo most of it. It still sucked, but I've learned a bit since then.

=^____^= Thank uu for your kindness and advice!! I lost some really good stuff, but the good news is, it made me go back and re-write some other good stuff! That's amazing you were able to redo an entire novel!! I've heard that when authors get close to the end of book, they're exhausted and ready to be d-u-n (DUN). To have run the marathon like that, and then re-start from the finishing line would be like...an intellectual/emotional athletic achievement!
