New Calendar Tool

I've added, but am still configurring, a new Absolute Write Calendar.

You can see it linked in the bar at the top of the Forums.

Right now, I have it set so

Admins can Add or Remove all events
Mods can Add or Remove all events; I'm hoping to restrict this to their own forums
Registered members can : View and Add or Remove the events they post.
Unregistered members can View.

* This may change.
Calendar events are created or posted via starting Threads.

To Post an Event

  1. Create a new thread or navigate to an existing thread.
  2. Click More options.
  3. Click Calendar menu.
  4. Click Calendar add.
  5. Select calendar Event date.
  6. Click Calendar add.
  7. Post thread or Save thread

Cool. Any particular vision for this? Putting up conferences and such?

Not sure if this is something you can tweak via CSS or whatever, but in Firefox at least, the dropdown for the year, when it's not dropped down, only shows 3 digits, like "202." Obv very low on the priority list.

We had a Calendar in vBulletin. It listed birthdays (not going to do that now) as well as events posted by members related to writing: Conferences, conventions, workshops, meetups, book releases.

I would really like to see book releases on our calendar, especially much. Those who slog in the trenches can look up and see the stars, right?
