I’m sure it’s a worldwide phenomenon, but more than one species of gecko have learned to sit on or around porch lights—and grow fatter by the minute.

(Make sure to leave some fruit out for your big, furry, flapping friends)
Spiders definitely learn this fast! Up here north, we don't get a lot of cold blooded animals like geckos unfortunately.

I had a very handsome Ilia Underwing on my deck this morning. Beautiful bark-patterned upper wings, with four bars of alternating black and orange on its underwings, which I only saw when it flew away. A nice start to the day.

It's getting too chilly at night here, but had the blue-banded one recently! The huuuge one. It's had a good year I think. Also had one of the ones with red underwings this year - Catocala nupta - think that's just called "red underwing" in english?
