Oh, Had I a Golden Thread - Pete Seeger

Lyrics
Oh, had I a golden thread
And a needle so fine
I, I would weave a magic spell
Of a rainbow design, mm
Of a rainbow design
In it I would weave the courage
Of women giving birth
And in it I would weave the innocence
Of the children of all the earth
Children of all the earth
Want to show my brothers and sisters
My rainbow design
'Cause I would bind up this sorry world
With hand and heart and mind
Oh, hand and heart and mind
Oh, had I a golden thread
And a needle so fine
I would weave a magic spell
Of a rainbow design
Of a rainbow design, hmm

I was listening to "Telly" from Matilda: The Musical (which I forgot I even owned, much less had in my car), and was highly amused by the song's lyrics ("Telly," of course, being a reference to television)

Somewhere, on a show I heard
That a picture tells a thousand words
So telly if you bothered to take a look
Is the equivalent of like.....lots of books!

[...]

All I know I learnt from telly
The bigger the telly, the smarter the man
You can tell from my big telly
Just how clever a feller I am

God I loved that musical! The last song I have listened to will shortly be My House from Matilda: the Musical.

ETA: I have to confess, to my great and unending shame, that I do in fact love musicals. Also opera - I'm not weird. But I do love musicals.

As odd as it may sound, musicals are just about the only music I listen to. Mostly because the songs individually and collectively tell a story.

I was never really all that aware of them, but then I had a kid who turned out to be a director of Musical Theatre. I was quite savage that there were so many wonderful musicals I had never known.

Last time I was in NYC was when In The Heights was opening. OMG. I saw it a very lot.
