She's an agent/lawyer and her website states the following:

"In general, we do not charge reading fees. However, we have writers on staff who charge editing fees, write and edit proposals and books. For an extensive manuscript analysis, there is a charge of $600. Additional services include: complete manuscript analyses for $750; editorial services for proposals and books at $40-$80 per hour depending on the amount of work involved; ghost writers provided on a project-by-project basis."

PM lists several six-figure deals that she made since 2001, including 2 in January 2008.

I've seen agents who offer those services and don't say anything about charging the author for them. I have to wonder if she would she take on a project if the author didn't want to pay for any of her expensive services.

Does her track record mean that this agent is a good one, regardless of the expensive services that she offers?

Even the "best" agent would be a good agent for you only if s/he's sold books like yours. From what's on her website, most clients are celebs of varying degree; business people with well-established platforms; or writing about same. Do you think your project would be a good fit? (And if she replies to a query with a pitch for paid services, please let us know!)

Just some points to note. They are attorneys and thier core expertise is law. Here're some points from their site:
"We are hired for two purposes, as lawyers to negotiate publishing agreements.. and other entertainment deals..All types of non-fiction are our specialty. If a piece of fiction is outstanding, we will certainly consider it. ..In general, we do not charge reading fees. However, we have writers on staff who charge editing fees, write and edit proposals and books. For an extensive manuscript analysis, there is a charge of $600. Additional services include: complete manuscript analyses for $750; editorial services for proposals and books at $40-$80 per hour depending on the amount of work involved; ghost writers provided on a project-by-project basis. "

Personally, I prefer an agent who drives the crossfunctional team of lawyers, editors, publishers, etc to get the book to market. A lawyer that moves into agenting...well statistics don't point to their favor, very few have made their mark.
