Day 20 - No words.

Pterofan - In my vampire WIP, my vampire MC bites his lip transporting himself to the day he was bitten. I hadn't thought about a vampire having a broken tooth, though.

Cindyt - I don't cry often at my own work. Maybe that's because I'm a sucker for happy endings, but I have cried thinking of my character.

Layla - I did! Day 21's count was my usual half page of longhand, about 200 words or so.
This morning I typed up about 182 words, which could end up being my Day 22 total unless I get back to it later.

The lawn is completely mowed. I'm looking at the weeds and debating.

The publisher booked me up with assignments through the middle of August, so it doesn't look like I'll be finishing a book by the end of July. On the other hand, my bills are getting paid, so I'm not going to squawk. I think my goal for next month will be to use some of that money and finally get my bike fixed. Maybe if I can shed some of these Covid-induced pounds through exercise, I'll have more energy and be able to work and write.

Cindy - hope you feel better.

I'm gonna have to duck out of this thread; the pressure of having to report progress every day has been counterproductive and right now I need to make my work less stressful or I'm going to really burn myself out. I'll probably be back in a future thread when I'm back to writing a first draft of...something, we'll see then!

I wish everyone the best and I'll see you in other places in the forum.

Hey Chase - just saw your post. Do what you need to keep things working for you. It was good to have you here, and if you ever feel up to it again, it will be good to see you

Day 22

All I was able to do today is edit.. I am better, though, and will likely write tomorrow.

Chase - Been there, done that, came back. Lo. You don't have to report every day. Don't write toward having something to report. Write. And if you want to share what you do, drop in. Do what you want to do.

Day 22 -282 words on How to Raise the Chosen One

I'm going to the beach today, so writing might not get done. I do like to read at the beach, however. I'm reading "To Hold up the Sky" by Cixin Liu. The first short story was great so I hope the rest will be, too.

ChaseJxyz - Take care of yourself.

Petrofan - Sounds like a plan with getting your bike fixed.

Glued to my computer screen.
A bit of a drive-by.

My streak was broken because I've had to focus on moving. But I'm still getting in a hundred words here and there when I can. Hopefully I'll be able to really write again next month.

Congrats everyone on the progress!

Skipped a few days again this week, and been quite spotty about updating, but did get a couple things done.
Day 19: 435 words
Day 22: 507 words
-More snippets of world-building for my someday-to-be WIP.
Day 23: 100 words
-Discovering some plot points for my new Sisyphus story - I actually have an idea now!

Chase - I get it. Been in and out of that same feeling myself. I'm working on not getting bogged down in guilt about it, and just letting words come when they feel like it, rather than trying to force things (which was making me grumpy).
Cindy - Good advice!
Pterofan - I'm impressed you can write while watching TV, ha.
Second Moon - Yay for beach reads! Not quite the same thing, but after I finish up some more notes, I plan to take a book and glass of wine out on the patio. 😌

Day 23 - 0 words. Yesterday--like I predicted--was mainly spent reading on the beach.

Cindyt - Woo! Yay on getting in the 1k club.

Pterofan - Good luck with the flash fiction.

Gatteau - I also like reading on my patio.

Hummingbird -I hope your move is going well.

Karasunoyashi - I did have fun at the beach.

Been a while since I looked in this thread. Looks like a lot of work and progress to me.

I've been editing several earlier stories, and published one work this month, but I decided it was time to start on the third and final book in my Web of Worlds series. I have been bouncing a few ideas around for months, letting them percolate, and when it was time to sit and write, I managed to get 1100 words done.

That was a lot more than I expected, to be honest.

Day 24

WORD COUNT - 643

A DEADLY SPILL OF SCARLET – Just when I thought it was safe for Billy to return to the hideout, I remembered a bit he and Aph need to talk about. Duh. I decided to edit out the first victim’s name from the nick “Lo” to her given name “Lolita.”

RESEARCH

  • What do you call a mortuary dead body storage thingy? Refrigerator, cooler, cooling cabinet. I chose the latter.
  • What do you call the slab where a dead body lays in the cooling cabinet? A stainless steel tray.

Moon – Wish I’d spent some of my time on the beach.

Layla – Woot for reading and progress!

Kerry – :hi: Congratulations on publishing! :snoopy:

Day 24 - 178 words on Vampire Loves Sunling

I really need to buckle down and write more words...

Cindyt - Good choice on wording. Cooling cabinet sounds a lot more dignified and respectful than refrigerator.

Layla - Watching the moon rise sounds so poetic.

Kerry - Yay for publishing!
