Hello from Scotland

Hi Everyone!

My name's Lorna and, as the title says, I'm from Scotland. I've written on and off for a few years but this is the start of a concerted effort to build consistency and really learn the craft.

I've written a few short stories in the post. I've had 2 published in the very basic of basic journals a few years ago and I wouldn't want to revisit them.

My dream would be to write speculative fiction ala Matt Haig. But I'm just writing short stories right now- on my roster is one that's surprisingly literary for me and the other quite far out fantasy. They started out as prompts for other competitions/magazines but I'm instead going to try and submit them to Tier 5 journals when finished. Can but try.

I'm also trying to read more. Starting with Matt's work but I have Ted Chiang's 'Stories of Your Life and Others' (he wrote the short story that the film Arrival was based on) ordered. Then I'd like to branch out from there.

Hey, a publication is a publication! And if you're able to look back and see ways you could improve them, that's a good thing. It means you're improving in your craft.
