I'm looking forward to being part of your community. It looks like there's an amazing amount of support, information and advice here.

I've been writing fiction on and off since the mid 2000's, although I've let it slip this last few years. I'm keen to get back into it again and I think it will help a lot to be a member of this forum.

I'd imagine that most of the short stories I write could be considered historical fiction, old school noir, mainstream literary and science fiction. Favourite authors are probably Martin Amis, Cormac McCarthy, Iain M. Banks, Patricia Highsmith and George MacDonald Fraser.

Ah no it's OK. I requested to join on Jan 1st (I think) but was accepted yesterday and my first post was answered within the hour! But thanks for the thought.

It's great to have you here, although I am new. Your writing reveals a fascinating range of interests. I enjoy the blend of historical fiction, noir, and sci-fi. Your favorite authors are incredible, too!

Getting back into writing after a break can be exciting and daunting. I am confident this community will help us find a rhythm and keep us flowing creatively. Thanks Gramps - I've had one short story shortlisted which resulted in publication, but that's all so far I'm afraid! I'll see if I can improve upon that this year
