Free learning tools

Design has many technical aspects to it, and access to decent learning tools can be expensive. Fortunately, that doesn't always have to be the case. I wanted to share a couple free tools I used to learn jQuery and javascript with all of you. They've improved my web design skills tenfold.

Codecademy
An interactive coding school with free courses in multiple languages. It starts with the basics of html and CSS and goes up to Python.

Eloquent Javascript
An interactive textbook that goes fairly in depth. Also free.

Codeschool has a free lesson in typography. There is also a jQuery path that's free from their main site.

Another free typography resource hosted online by Richard Rutter. While it focuses on web typography, this looks amazingly comprehensive and could be a great introduction for your typographically challenged layman (as I once was).
