First Line of NaNo 2022

Mine:

I'd spent an inordinate amount of time contemplating the shape of Jie's lips when the girl fell out of the sky.

[My 'NaNo' is really trying to finish up a novel I've already been working on. It's about 40K in, and another 50K would get it well done, I think. So this is actually the first line of Chapter 10 rather than the first line entirely.]

Owen knew he had a restless nature; on most days, he preferred to be out in the field, talking to people and going over crime scenes rather than doing data analysis back at the office.

I'm using nano to edit the 7k of a novel I started last year and bolster it to a sizable chunk. Day one consisted of padding and editing the original 7k into 9k of combined new and old material then totally new content tomorrow.
