Missed this earlier and I agree to go for it! As long as it's not an exclusive submission, you have every right to pitch and query it. Not only does it increase your exposure and chances, but if the publisher accepts your MS, it will be good to get agent representation too.I have a question:
My full has been under consideration with a publisher for 8 months. PitDark is coming on the 23rd and that is the one I would pitch.
Not only is the publisher on Twitter, but the editor/owner that I have personally communicated with on my projects (the publisher has two of my fulls right now) is also on Twitter.
Is it okay for me to participate in the contest? Or am I better off not?
Thank you!#UnhingedPit is coming, and one of their things is not announcing it in advance, but it looks like it will be 8/29. @UnhingedPit for details, but basically the only rules are no conventional pitches, use the hash tags, and only three pitches per project. If you use comps they have to be 5+ years old.
This is tons of fun and a hysterical event where authors pull out the stops and do ridiculous, creative things and there is industry participation. I strong encourage people to go for it as practice and it's just a wild time.
Also #PitchDis 2024, September 10-12. This is for disabled authors and is NOT a Twitter event. https://www.pitchdis.com/pitchdis-2024
and #PitDark will be coming in October, will post when details are available.
Don't use your brain for Unhinged Pit. It's more fun that way. Just find a meme and make it yours!!Thank you!
Too late to get my brain working for this UnhingedPit, but I can try the #PitDark. Although that would mean going back to using X.... I don't have friends there to retweet me![]()

Almost 60 new followers in 24 hours! Yikes on bikes! There was a mass exodus from Twitter in the wake of the block-not-block policy, and a post-election surge as the hate and abuse of Musk's platform increases. A large portion of authors abandoning Twitter have landed on BlueSky (my handle is BrigidBarryME), so many that they are going to do their very first BlueSky pitch event!!
A few enterprising authors more familiar with the platform have created starter packs: lists of members of the writing community to be able to find mass amounts of people at once. I have more followers on Blue Sky after a month than I've had on Twitter in over a year.I would urge any new Twitter refugees to put the time and effort into building a Bluesky community (or wherever you want to build). Twitter communities weren’t built overnight, and there are huge headwinds for other platforms right now. But social media has always been about finding people we want to spend time with. Moving whole communities is hard, but possible - and worth it.
I just saw that. Just a head's up, if it matters to you, but the agent who will critique your first 5 pages if you win represents and writes Christian fiction. My rockstars are probably too potty-mouthed for her.#WritingDayWorkshops hosts regular contests, and there's a first pages contest going on right now for adult SFF, romance, histfic, womens fic, and YA. Its free and winners get a first pages critique from an agent.
Do you have a link?Revpit 2025 starts on March 13th, if anyone wants to put out their finished manuscript. I always find it fun, and there's a good amount of information that gets shared about about queries and editing in generL. And it looks like it's on bluesky this year, too
