Whether we get to a consensus or not I feel that I have a much better understanding of others ideas and even my own. Being forced to make a coherent argument has given me greater understanding and insight into my own thoughts.

I think if I created a allegorical universe in a book or screenplay and it started a new religion, I think I would have wished I'd never written it. George Lucas intention was to get people to think about spirtuality. I have heard that George Lucas himself is a Mainline Christian who has been heavily influenced by Joseph Campbell take on mythology and Religion.

George Lucas said:
I put the Force into the movie in order to try to awaken a certain kind of spirituality in young people — more a belief in God than a belief in any particular religious system. I wanted to make it so that young people would begin to ask questions about the mystery.
