Hi,

I'm a returning author but I haven't been here for a while. I'm about to sign with a small but very reputable publisher who is interested in my backlist and my new stuff. I'm very happy.

It has been a while since I've set out to do marketing and PR. I was thinking of hiring a service. Has anyone had any positive experience with an individual/company that promises reviews, social media help, PR etc?

My thoughts are that I've heard some of these services get reviews that are dodgy as hell (think bots) and the penalty you suffer for that makes it totally not worth it.

Not much to suggest beyond that. I find promotions to be the most reliable if underwhelming way to go.
