I just tried finding you again, and you're still not coming up in search šŸ˜
She's been linked upthread at least twice. It's how I had to find her. There have been huge numbers of members joining in a short time and things are being a bit glitchy because of it.

Yeah, I think it's a "system overload" issue. I've seen several people saying that they've reported the same issue over other accounts, so hopefully it's high on their to-do list to fix.

I'll keep checking, and as soon as I see you're searchable, I'll add you to that Starter Pack, @Maryn.

Does the link in my signature not work? It works for me, but of course, it likes me.

I was able to find you and follow you without difficulty, but that was several days ago, when you first joined. Maybe things have glitched since then.

On a discord I'm on (London Writers) there was one account of all the accounts shared that was the same. The link worked, but the search for that user does not.

You're not alone Maryn! If you want that account to try to figure it out, I will share it.

Nah, they know they have a problem. Good Trouble, right?

Anyone who'd like to follow me, first look to see if I followed you, right? I attempted to pick up everyone in this thread. You can follow back, if I'm not mistaken. If I missed you somehow, holler.

Meanwhile, I have catching up to do. I made a list of things to get done before Thanksgiving, a reasonable number per day, then proceeded to ignore it. Unwise.

Just FYI, I was followed this morning by a bestselling Canadian author. It surprised me, but I followed back, and almost immediately was messaged with the kind of bland "Hi" and "How are you" stuff I expect from scammers/spammers. I responded in a noncommittal fashion and then got this:

I can see we're both authors, that's why I sent to a follow request, hope I'm not too rude to you?

which sounded not at all like a bestselling author to me. I put the kibosh on the convo, reported the account to Bluesky as either hacked or catfishing, and took the extra step of contacting the university where the author is an adjunct professor and asking them to forward the email to her.

I've seen multiple authors now reporting very similar events, some well-known author following them out of nowhere and not acting like one would anticipate. Apparently there's a rash of bad folks who are using authors' likenesses, cover art, and names, most likely setting up one scam or another.

One thing I highly approved of is an attempt by the person who got such a contact at BlueSky to let the real author know through means other than BlueSky, such as a place of employment, agent, or publisher, that this has occurred.

This has been happening on Twitter and I'm not surprised it followed onto BlueSky. Scammers gonna scam. I get a laugh when they pick dead authors to impersonate though.

There are 1,453 days until the United States might possibly hold a presidential election, and I will walk every day and post it. So there's a denominator on my posts too. My handle is pltavormina.
Great way to stay healthy and get your head out of the news for a while during the day.
I'm doing marathon in April and half-marathon in September for the next four years and I am not even in America. Same reason though.
I found you and followed you - I was hoping you were also counting the days in reverse in your posts, but it's good how you record them anyway as we can see the number of hikes against the total days.
