BlueCat is now accepting submissions for our 2023 Competition!
For 25 years, BlueCat has sought to discover and develop the storyteller.
When you submit to BlueCat, you’re guaranteed a complete read of your script, as we provide a written analysis of your submission at no extra fee.
Our Winners and Finalists often find valuable connections within the industry, which help them begin professional careers.
In addition, our cash awards total $18,500!
Please send your feature screenplay, tv pilot and short film script when you’re ready—-we look forward to reading your work!
Our next deadline is Sunday, September 18th, though there are monthly deadlines until our Final Deadline on December 11.
Scripts entered by September 18th, 2022 will receive their written analysis by October 25th, 2022.

Just noting that this has an entry fee of $75 - $95 per submission.

I know absolutely zero about the screenplay world or the people in it. I did find this discussion. And I found that the first 'success story' they list, Amy Wang, seems to be repped by Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, not UTA. And Ana Lily Amirpour's Wiki page mentions nothing about ever entering or having anything to do with Blue Cat.

With an entry fee that steep, the contest must be a nice revenue stream for Blue Cat.

I'm troubled by the fact that, other than its co-founder, the site lists no staff, no judges for the contest and no clue as to the qualifications and industry experience of those who will be producing the written analyses of the contest entries.

The owner is the sole judge. And yes, the scripts are assigned to readers -- identity/qualifications unknown -- for screening, and those readers provide the written analysis.
