Help, I need your ideas for something fun to do.

It is Friday and I am out of ideas for something fun that I can do with my children tonight.

The problem I have is trying to figure out things they will both enjoy considering gender difference and age difference. My daughter is 15 and my son is 10.

We are burned out on pizza and movies and we've played games till we could puke. So now what? Can you help? I need some suggestions.

I don't know where you are or what the weather's like where you are, but if you have any walking trails around your place, I've always found that to be a good thing to do with children, whether they're two or twenty-two.

It is beautiful here today and we do live in the country. Perhaps we could go down to the creek and look for crawdads. OH! I know what else. I've been wanting to make a hideout underneath our trampoline. OH! and I need flashlights for later tonight.

Puzzles might sound boring but they can be a fun, inexpensive family project. Or go to the sporting goods store and buy a badminton set or croquet set. Go to the roller skating rink. Play hide and go seek. Buy kites. Teach them how to toilet paper a neighbor's house.

Find out if there is an indoor rock climbing facility near you.

Very cheap entertainment and my daughter loves it.

Ask them what they want to do. Then do it - even if it sounds crappy. You might just enjoy it.

Bowling's fun. Croquet or bocce too!

A weinie roast in a local park?

Bake something. Sugar cookies are good. Let the kids pick the shapes and cut them out. Don't forget about icing them!

These are all great ideas!

For the individual who suggested volunteering in the community, my daughter has that covered for tomorrow. She is going to be doing some beautification projects for the city. Planting flowers, clean up and so forth. NO, she's not doing this as a legal consequence lol. She's doing it for school credits.

III, that reminds me of some of the things I did for fun as a child.

As far as asking my children what they want to do, I already know that answer. They want to suck my financial resources dry!!

Make popcorn together
watch a movie
go for a walk (weather permitting)
have a scavenger hunt in the house, give each kid a list
tell stories (my kids love what they call story time which is usually stories from the long ago past when Mom was a kid)
get out old pictures and stroll down memory lane
make a scrapbook
cook together (a meal, make cookies, whatever)
just some of the things my kids and I (12 through 7) do and enjoy!
