I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but so far I haven't found any better place.

So, I'm far more serious about writing, and what I do write is novels (only two about done so far and none published), but sometimes I draw as a hobby. Through the years I have taken several nude drawing classes, which have had the usual problem, most of the models are women, and almost always pretty young (and at least in my case, also pretty) women. So could anyone tell if there are any sites on the internet with pictures of nude people? That is, nonpornographic ones. I'd like to learn to draw men too. And old people, and fat people, and skinny people, and, well, perhaps also people doing something instead of striking an obvious pose. Pictures of clothed people doing something are of course easy to find, and it seems also relatively clean pictures of nude women in poses, but otherwise when it comes to nude most google searches I have tried I get porn, and while I have no problems with naked by itself I don't particularly like obvious porn.

As pretty much everything else can be found in the internet nowadays I would be surprised if nobody has thought to put up something like that, but if it is there how can I find it?

You could try searching for underwear and swim wear. You can see the body shape clearly, and they market it to most groups (search for 'plus size' for larger people).

The photographs of Eadweard Muybridge might be useful to you. They're public domain, and show humans moving in sequence. There's everything from walking to throwing a spear. This site has some of the images, available in large size:

There are some useful pose books out there that have different types--although younger women still predominate. Soem even have CDs so you can turn the figure around to different angles.

Polenth, thanks for the link, those pictures are great! Exactly what I have wanted to find.

My main problem with the google searches is thinking of good search words, especially when it comes to finding pictures of men, in swimwear or anything less clothed (more often than not end up with gay porn), and of course when I find something it's those same good looking young people striking poses.

Bluntforcetrauma, jeez, you want to attend an art class to ogle pretty young women, try looking for one near an university. There are two of those, and a few other institutes for higher learning in the town where I live, so: students who need money, and it seems it's easier for women, and the nicer looking ones, to take all off and then stand in front of an audience (and I knew somebody would make that joke, it's so damn obvious. You are not getting any points for originality here :).

Veinglory, good advice otherwise, but all the ones I have seen are somewhat pricey, and as said drawing is a hobby for me. And I make my living mostly as a paper carrier. We don't get paid all that much. Those classes I can get cheap, there is a system here (Finland) to get the proletariat some culture called 'kansalaisopisto' (no idea if there is an English name for it) where you can attend pretty diverse (mostly evening) classes for a low fee, but I'm not so fond of drawing I'd be willing to pay what I have seen those books to cost in order to improve.

Anybody know where Absolute Write vanished for a while?

There's an earlier John Lennon album, I forget the name, but the inner sleeve of the LP has pics of them naked. One side is a "full frontal" and the other is a "full backal." And these two naked people are not especially pretty.

I've been looking for a thread on this topic, but it went down during last night's Flash Fiction challenge, just like it did a week earlier. We're investigating everyone who hates flash fiction...

I'm surprised to hear that most of the models are young.
I've been involved in life drawing for about 15 years and have only ever seen two younger models (and they were so alluring I didn't draw a solitary thing).
You should just request a bigger range, I'm sure they'd oblige.

I have talked with the different teachers I have had a sometimes, it seems it is very hard for them to find older models here. Or male ones, of any age. The last time I took croquis was about a year and a half ago, and there were three models used, all slim girls in their early twenties.

I wasn't the only one complaining about the range of our models, either. Well, since most of us were women and we were all Finns, it was mostly just modest wishes for something a bit different for a change, but anyway...

About that last patch of models I saw, one probably did yoga as her idea of a good pose seemed to be something like a human pretzel, and one was living proof that it is actually possible to have all natural size D's while being of that famous willow slim build otherwise. Talk about envious (me, that is. I have a bust about that size, but my waist has always been way thicker than hers. Well, the consoling thought was that when she gets to my age hers will droop too :D).

Hm. Interesting to think what it would be like to attend a class where the model was a hunky young man. While I usually concentrate on the drawing to the point where there is not that much difference to me whether the model is a human or a flower pot, except for the fact the the flower pot can stay still longer, I think that might be a bit more difficult if the model was an attractive member of the opposite sex.
