Just something I heard that may be of use to one or two of you out there..

I was talking with my teenage niece and the subject turned to drugs (don't ask me how!). She referred to ecstacy tablets as "Disco Biscuits".

That's all. Carry on!

Street drugs have some amazing names, often localized or regionalized, or used only by cultural subsets (gay men, black people, whatever). I imagine a linguist could have a field day determining what the local populace in the know calls their ecstasy and mapping it, or trying to trace the origin of the nickname.

Maryn, who'll study linguistics if she gets to start live over again

We used to call acid wave-slaves and fab-tabs and Uncle. Just our group, though. Although, I remember hearing Uncle elsewhere and thinking... 'hey, we started that!' That's what happens though... some terms get coined and then make their way across the vast population of drug fiends. (-; It is an entire linguistic field indeed.
