Oh, well done!
:hooray:
Honourable mention is way better anyway, especially if they don't take first print rights for the honourable mentions. That lets you submit it to the highest bidder with 'This poem won honourable mention etc' for first print rights.

That's my help for the 'glad-i-didn't-win' camp, anyway.

::blushes:: aw shucks, thanks you guys! i ahd this long message...it got deleted...so i'll jsut cut to the end since i only have a few more minutes.

jalpha- since you asked, absolutely! here's the poem! as always, it is open for critiques. brutal or kind, whatever is truthful! personally, i don't think the contest was very descriminating, so don't hold back. i'm always looking for opinions on how to improve, and i have a "thick skin." the contest was definitely legit though, so i'm still happy! :) at the least it adds to my slowly...very slowly... growing list of publications! :)

White Bones Live

White bones whip in the harsh three-quarter gale,
attached to a statue of grey stagnant wood,
Inscrutable terror reigns in the light,
as the hounds chase their prey- scared gray.
And he braces himself against the raw fury,
Cursing as he trods on the long winding stone.
But a single golden beam reveals life still in the remnants-
to her- only her…
And she smiles.

The frigid icy kiss rubs two-lips dry,
As glaring light awakens the sleeper,
He glowers at the blinding orb-
And that he yanks his cold-black eyes shut against the intrusion-
he feels is his right?
But in the liquid coolness she rapturously curls,
As the silver water caresses her frame,
And she laughs- I laugh!
And we pity him.
