Sunsets, bike rides, reading your favorite book for the tenth time.

What are things in your life, things that you do besides writing that make you happy?

With me:

Working on a hobby and accomplishing something positive.

Watching our cats play or play-fight with each other.

Having a picnic with my wife.

Watching my favorite movie again.

Listening to a favorite song.

Shooting pool in our basement.

Finding a good 8 track tape I don't already have.

Buying a 78 RPM record of a song I love . . . and listening to it.

Having someone tell me he or she really liked one of my books, and perhaps learned from it.

Others?

Reading. Writing. Not so much arithmetic.

And having a hedgehog in my sleeve.

my greatest happiness so far today was a long distance phone call with one of my favorite people.
but there were others;
french vanilla creamer in my fresh brewed coffee.
a purring kitten.
John Coltrane.
writing a page in my journal.
sparkling clean bathrooms.
ham and muenster wrapped in romaine with white corn tortilla chips and chunky salsa.
sunshine and a lilting breeze.
I think I hear a bird, and my old dog is thumping her tail...
ok, it's been fun, and now I'm off to take a walk.
have a nice afternoon.

My son, even when he's being naughty he makes me happy.
Taking a walk in the woods.
A quiet afternoon on my deck with a good book.
Being with friends.
Thunderstorms.
A really good steak.

A snuggle with my bulldog.

Really fine food.

A day with my husband at the Minnesota State Fair.

A day with my bulldog at a bulldog festival.

Travel to places exotic.

Coming home to my bulldog.

Wine and a nibble al fresco.

The new law going through the state legislature that will allow your dogs to be there when you have a little wine and a nibble al fresco.

When the right candidate wins.

Talking at the end of a long day with Mr Rima.

My nieces.

The Sunday New York Times.

Biking, running, long walks with the dogs.

Cooking for and feeding friends and family.

Dark, rainy afternoons watching old Hitchcock movies on TMC.

Any time spent in Ireland.

Any time spent anywhere in Scandinavia.

My dogs

I'm not telling.
Things that make me happy.

1. Warm summer breezes blowing through the opened windows of the house.

2. My toes wrapped in warm sand.

3. Anyone of the many beautiful mountain lakes where I live.

4. Wishing on a shooting star.

5. Fresh red ripe tomatoes from the garden.

6. My writing group.

7. My three pugs cuddling with me on a cold winter's night.

8. Long deep kisses.

9. Riding roller coasters.

10. The scent of my lover still on my skin after a night of passion.

Any and all of the above. Usually it's snuggling up, each with our own book. Occasionally, it's reading out loud to each other. (we always we aloud to each other on car trips and every now and then it spills over into when we're home)

The Innocence of children

The Smile of older people

Know that I am beloved

Watch and feel the dawn

Rainy days

Female hair

The smell of gasoline, fresh paint, oil, etc.

The soft skin and weavy hair of someone I just will call Miss M.

People enjoying what I write

Older simplier times

A hug, specially if is ramdom

Forget for a moment that the rest of the world exists

That moment when you are between life and death

A good shower

This reminds me this French short from the same director of Amelie:
