Little worries can turn into big ones fast.

For the last few months, my sister has been having odd spells of fatigue. She's in college now, going for her Rad Tech degree, and just figured the fatigue was due to school stress.

But the week before last, she passed out (at home, thankfully). That was when my mom insisted she go see a doctor. She made the appointment for early last week, and passed out twice more before that day.

She was admitted to the hospital. They ran a bunch of tests. They have no clue what's going on. The doctor *thinks* she may have an enlarged thyroid, and Addison's Disease was mentioned as a possibility, but they have to admit her again tomorrow to run still more tests.

It would be nice if they'd figure out what the hell is wrong.

someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
(((hugs))) It's unfortunate that most of the time is spent figuring out what's not wrong with you, and that means lots of tests. I hope it's just stress and things get better after some rest and maybe some stress management training.

Angie, praying all will be well for your sister and that they'll find out what's wrong quickly and it won't be serious. :Hug2:

My coworker is having similiar issues, and its going on 3 months without a definitive diagnosis. They determined she suffered a pancreatic attack, but without finding any gall stones, they don't know the cause. The body is a complex system and the docs do the best they can. I've said a prayer for your sister. Best wishes for a solid diagnosis and successful treatment.

I feel for you and her. It's tough not knowing. I went undiagnosed for four years with a iron defiency. A simple iron defiency!

Please, get the tests done and suggest an iron test and also ask them to send in a endocrinology specialist.

My best to you both.

So, I call my sister today to get an update on the doctor's visit she had this morning.

I found out a lot more stuff that's been going on that I didn't know. Like the fact that her regular doctor put her on a heart monitor last week and discovered that her heart is racing pretty much constantly, just barely below the level that sets off the alarm. If she so much as walks up a few stairs, it sets off the monitor.

Also, she's had tremors in her hands and a general shaky feeling for quite awhile.

She went to a neurologist today. Found nothing.

Goes to an endocrinologist in early April. Hopefully they'll find something there so we at least know what the heck we're dealing with.

Waiting and not knowing sucks. Especially about the heart thing -- that's just scary.

ETA: I forgot to mention that this is my "baby" sister--she's only 25.

It's amazing what such a little thing as an outta whack thyroid can do to systems you'd think are unrelated. I'm crossing all appropriate appendages for a quick diagnosis and an easy fix. Hugs!

Ill be keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well. Hang in there, Angie! I know it is hard being the spectator and feeling helpless.
