Need the title of a movie set in Australia

Help! I need the title of a movie set in Australia.

The main character was a man, dying of cancer, who goes on a journey to the place where he once hunted/lived. He's basically on his final walkabout.

Along the way he sees a family, mother-father-son. The son is a nasty twit and does a couple of things to show that (steals a talisman from a aborigine, etc).

The family is traveling in a motor home, and early on it goes over a cliff, killing the mother and father. The son is outside of the motor home when that happens, and survives.

He begins to follow the dying man, who tries to ignore him, but eventually they travel together. The dying man is not about to take the kid back to civilization and begins to teach him how to get back himself.

Does anyone recognize this film?
