I thought, mistakenly, that they delivered my order by hand. Not so, I was awakened this morning by a loud banging on my door.
"What the?"
I crawled out of bed.
Knock knock knock!
"All right, I'm coming!"
I didn't bother to spy whoever it was banging on my door. I just swung the door open and prepared to curse my unwelcomed visitor. That was my next mistake.
Before me was a hand. Just a right hand. No left hand. My order sat beside the hand. I took a step back and nearly tripped over the hand that slipped past me unseen while I opened the door. The left hand held a pen.
This was all too much for me. I shooed the hand with my foot thinking it was all a bad dream. The right hand gripped my ankle and scratched hard.
Now the left hand had my other ankle and both swayed me backward. I hit the back of my head on the coffee table.
I woke up on the kitchen floor sometime later. I can't tell you how long I was out. The hands were gone though. I could have used a hand to get up from the floor, but I managed somehow and saw my order sitting next to the front door. I bent down and grabbed the receipt.
"Paid cash. $38.73"
Below the total was a scribbled note. "We'll be back tomorrow with the hand lotion you ordered."
Oh no, "I didn't order any hand lotion. I ordered foot creme."
Don't you just hate it when hand delivery takes on a whole new meaning.
