Okay AW'ers, I need your help with a candy that we had back in the 60's or 70's

This particular candy was Taffy, and it was a huge flat stick of it about 10-12 inches long and about 5-6 inches wide. It was about 1/16th of an inch thick.

It was packaged in wax paper with a colored stripe down the middle.

Help me out! (Your reward is a log of chick-o-stix) LOL

I concur. Laffy Taffy. Oh, I remember it well! I also remember Marathon bars and Mallow cups and Fizzies! Anyone remember Fizzies?

I thought it was Laffy Taffy, but I googled it and couldn't come up with a pic, so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks you guys!

BTW - The WORST candy ever, was Bit O Honey. It was like trying to chew a radial tire.

I believe that. Come to think of it -

that would explain a lot if the same ones have been on the shelf for 40 years. :D

p.s. you aren't supposed to chew Bit O'Honey - let it melt if you want to keep your teeth.

They changed the package. It didn't used to look like this.

I love Chick-O-Stix! Had one on my last road trip. My kids eat Laffy Taffy, but it's not as described above. Are y'all sure?

you martyr and shine.
Charleston Chews were huge, tough, nasty, cheap candybars.

I thought Laffy Taffy was that thicker kind with the sour flavors. ETA: I can picture the kind you described though.

Anyone remember Lollies, those two-tone sour/sweet chalky lollipops? We loved those.

THIS is the one. There's a truck stop in Waco TX that still sells them. The packaging has been changed a little, but that's them.

I tried and tried to get my ex wife to try a Chick-O-Stix and she wouldn't do it. Same thing with those Maple candies (they were shaped like liitle igloos)

Boston Baked Beans were great too!

I was a big fan of the candy necklaces. They tasted like chalk, but were so cool. Edible jewelry. What an awesome thing. Almost as good as chocolate pants.

When I was pregnant, I'd have given anything for a candy necklace made out of Tums.

From my research I've found that they were Koo-Koo bars and they've been discontinued. But the candy pictured above is the best match for what Koo-Koo bars used to be.

candy cigarettes.
It's amazing how a candy company gets you to thinking you're cool, by putting a cigarette in your mouth when you're 6 years old. They didn't bother telling us about the cancer-kazoos we'd be talking out of someday.
