I stick to the smileys on this site and at coolsmilies.net (I tend to think most smiley sites are fronts for spyware). But I can't find a smiley for simply sitting at a computer (though I do love :Hammer: ) or a smiley (I started to write simile) reading a book.

These aren't particularly imaginative examples, but I have a feeling other people can come up with better ones

So with that, I pass the puck to you all:

You're right about the book reading one. That would be very appropriate for a writers' site.

breathe! now push!

i'd like to see one lying on her back, spread-eagle, biting down a washcloth as the pushes a baby smiley from her womb.

it would say much about the cycle of life.

thanks,
william

And Prodigy seems pretty safe when it comes to viruses and spyware.

Not too sure
I'd like to see one where the smiley-man is on fire, and screaming, but on the inside you can tell he's still happy.

William, that's not where smileys come from. I'll bet that suggestion won you a lot of friends and admirers. Luckily for me, I saw your poetry before I happened upon this thread.

As for the cycle of life. I'm pretty sure that smileys first spawned at Woolworth's. I remember being kinda little, standing next to my mother in the checkout line at Woolworth and looking up at a big yellow balloon with a happy face on it. I knew better than to ask for a balloon. But I did ask my mom, once we were outside, what did it mean? She couldn't say.

I don't know how to animate and I'm no artist, so this is the best I could do, William:

That was a good guess... funny.

Does anybody really want to know where they came from?

The smileyface was invented by the owner of the McBeth Corporation a company that manufactured Christian novelties. The novelties used to have the smileyface and the words, "Smile, God Loves You!" (I sometimes wonder if he's been getting paid for all the products it has been on since.)
