Canada's Jeff Healy is dead. He died in Toronto this evening as the result of a rare cancer -- retino blastoma -- the same cancer that he lost his eyesight to.

He will be sadly missed. A virtuoso.

RIP, Jeff.

So sad. I was just thinking about him recently, as I read a while ago that his cancer had returned. He was the same age as me. :(

Wow. I didn't realize he was younger than me, or that he had the same retinoblastoma my uncle had, also blind since childhood.

So sad. Good music.

RIP. I love his music. I had my first kiss ever to his song, "Angel Eyes," and love that song to this day. I still know most of the words. He was so talented.

Oh man, that's just too bad. I saw him in concert-umm, maybe '93, he opened for Z.Z. Top at Arco Arena in Sacramento.
He was phenomenal.

Yep. Same age as me too. Too young to die. They are getting something together to honour him here in T.O. He was a much loved musician and human being.

I too saw him open for ZZ Top. I thought he was better! Great music and a great talent.

I replied in another thread, but it bears repeating. He was a talented young musician who gave us all the gift of his music. He'll be missed.

I was saddened to hear this today. He was talented and seemed like a good person. Tragic.

Jeff, wishing you the greatest peace there is, and the end of a long and painful battle. May your angle eyes turn our way.

That's a terrible shame. I met him briefly a few years ago outside of the CBC building in Toronto. He was an awesome guy, but I think everyone knows that already.
