you martyr and shine.
Today was my first day at my new job. I was supposed to start two weeks ago, but I've been sick with bronchitis, so they postponed my orientation until today.

It's at a company I worked at for 11 years, then left about 10 years ago to stay home with my babies. In December, they asked me to do contract work on a project, and that quickly turned into an offer of a part-time, salaried position that they ultimately expect will go to full time. They were going to have me work from home, and as of right now I am, but it looks like there is an office (an OFFICE not a cubicle :D) possibly opening up for me. I much prefer that to working from home. The hours 10-3, are while my kids are at school. Perfect, perfect, perfect.

My first day went really well. Even though I'd been gone from there 10 years, in a company of 44 people there were only four I hadn't worked with before, and two whom I'd not yet met. (This says a lot about their turnover rate.) Everyone seems really glad to have me back. It was sort of like a homecoming.

Job. . . work. . . hmmm, yes, better get one of those fairly soon.

Either that or hope the revolution comes really soon.

Doesn't look likely though.

Even if it did I'd probably be second against the wall.

But seriously - Congratulations

I had something for this...
Congratulations!

Starting a new job is just like your first day in prison. You've got to find the biggest, meanest S.O.B. there and lay them out. Then the other employees will respect and fear you.

Or security will escort you from the premises. It's kind of a crap shoot. Good Luck! :)

Congratulations on your new job and surviving the first day. The company must be pretty good if only four new people are there since you left.

That sounds great!! I love the hours (wish I knew where I could find hours like that).

Seems like you're just sliding right back into the groooove. Groovy, baby.

Sounds like you are one of those employees that employers like. That's a great thing to be. Especially if the other employees like you too!

I hope this isn't going to cut into your posting time. Or does it just mean you'll have AW access with faster bandwidth now? :D

They found an office for me already! :D They sent me out today to order a new desk and chair. They're repainting the office this week, then getting the carpets cleaned Monday. After that, I can move in.

Yes, this will cut in on my posting time.

Ooh, I almost forgot: I get 2 weeks paid vacation in this calendar year, but next year, I get FOUR. They considered my previous years there when they factored my vacation hours.
