Today was my first day at my new job. I was supposed to start two weeks ago, but I've been sick with bronchitis, so they postponed my orientation until today.
It's at a company I worked at for 11 years, then left about 10 years ago to stay home with my babies. In December, they asked me to do contract work on a project, and that quickly turned into an offer of a part-time, salaried position that they ultimately expect will go to full time. They were going to have me work from home, and as of right now I am, but it looks like there is an office (an OFFICE not a cubicle ) possibly opening up for me. I much prefer that to working from home. The hours 10-3, are while my kids are at school. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
My first day went really well. Even though I'd been gone from there 10 years, in a company of 44 people there were only four I hadn't worked with before, and two whom I'd not yet met. (This says a lot about their turnover rate.) Everyone seems really glad to have me back. It was sort of like a homecoming.
