Click on the image to get a really good large version. Achingly earth-like, could be something from Arizona almost. The wavy stuff in the basin is a dune field, but it doesn't take much imagination to make it a lake with rippling water, does it?

That is awesome! I would love to be able to stand there. In a spacesuit, of course.

AH, it's good to see NASA's getting better with Photoshop. Maybe now they can go back and add stars in the background of all those Apollo fakes. Just kidding. Hope I didn't wake up the conspiracy theorists.

I had this as my desktop for awhile. Love this picture:

If you click it twice, you can see the Griswold's station wagon on the rim.

Here's a series of STS 117 from June 2007. Just a few at a time, if no one minds. I don't mean to hijack the thread so let me know please.

ETA: Rather than take up space posting the pics. You can go to this link and see the slideshow. I was emailed the same slideshow but with much larger pictures, but, I don't see any reason to tie up AW space if it's available through a link. Awesome pictures of Launch, Space Station, Orbiting above the earth, Space "work", etc.

Absolutely beautiful. Imagine having the honor to put the first human footprints into that sand. Wow.
