I heard an expression used today that I’ve never heard before. My friend and I saw the person who usually delivers mail, and she referred to him by some strange name I’d never heard before.

What do you call the person who delivers your mail.

Mailman!

Well, when I was a kid I called him Donald Duck. This was because our mailman was this big tall guy with a big grizzly beard who would do the "Donald Duck" voice for me and then hold his hand up to see if I could jump high enough to touch it. I waited for him with great anticipation every Saturday morning. :)

I ‘think,’ which isn’t saying much that equal rights removed the ‘man’ from job titles, and since the word ‘postal’ carries a negative connotation, it’s mail carrier.

What’s the prize if we win? :D

He's male, so I refer to him as the Mailman.

When my Mail person was female, I referred to her as the Mail Lady. :)

Okay, I'll reveal it. It kinda took me by surprise and I wasn't sure what she was referring to.

She called him a post officer. And then insisted that it's a pretty common term. Has anyone ever heard that term used?

Yes, while I was growing up.
However, now I refer to them as Mail Carriers. (Since they can be either male or female)

you martyr and shine.
I'll call him "Andy." He used to be my next door neighbor.

Oh, but if it's a female carrier, I call her "Brenda." We graduated high school together.

Yes, I live in a small town.

I don't call him any of the above, in fact I don't call him anything. I should, considering he's a friend of mine. I catch him inbetween posting sometimes, and we have a nice chat.

Postman. Postman Pat for kids. lol

"Postman Pat & His black and white cat" I was nicknamed Postman Pat at school on various accounts, because of Patricia, my second name. TV shows are quite influential, huh. ;)

Oh, so he's basically just dying to be right here, and wants our support? Then my vote is for Post Officer.

Not only have I heard of it, but I use it 10-12 times daily.

So there.

Hahahaha! Wow. All I can say is I'm glad my girl isn't anything like you.

She's nice.

(And you're probably making it up anyway. Everyone knows there's no such word as post officer!)

A wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagi
"Letter carrier" was the officially approved gender-neutral all-inclusive title until parcels, packages and postcards complained about being treated as non-entities, so it's now "letter, parcel, package and postcard carrier" or "LPP and PC carrier."

Well, from this post alone I'd say it's pretty obvious she'd have to be a saint to put up with your nasty attitude.

Well, I'm certainly on board with that title for you... But let's spit-shake and stay friendly. I'd hate to have to kick your ass publicly for being a jerk. It'd be really embarrassing for you to catch a smackdown from a girl, ya-know?
