Four weeks ago, I took the test that would tell the state whether or not I'm smart enough to teach elementary school.

Today I got a neato certificate from the testing facility that says I scored in the top 15% of ALL test takers previous to this year!

No score report yet, so I don't know the exact number, but I did some Googling and found out you need to score at LEAST a 181 to get a certificate.

The qualifying score for the State of New Jersey to teach in elementary school...141

I KICKED ITS BUTT!

Seriously though, that's way cool. Congratulations and good luck to you!

Yeah, I agree. I probably would have framed it, rather than roll it up and smoke it.
But, Congratulations! We need lots more good teachers!

Exactly how smart DO you need to be to teach elementary school? Seems to me you only need to be smarter than a bunch of 6th graders. How hard can that be? :tongue

Congratulations, Christine!

Your psych exam is next.

"I'm sorry? You want to do WHAT??"

(Yes, I am in Edu-ma-cation. Yes, I am kidding. Teachers help give kids the dreams our reality is built on.)

Waytago!

Fifth Graders. Now Elementary School goes from K-5, and Middle School starts at 6th.

LOL. Actually I've heard of people failing the test. Many have failed to qualify by a single point or two. I passed by at least forty.

It's really a general knowledge test in Math, Science, Social Studies and English.

Now I can get on that show "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader"!

*thinks about how much fun it would be to pay one of the little urchins to say: "Look, Teacher Christine...I had my book of doodles published by PublishAmerica because you inspired me!"*

Congratulations! Have fun teaching!

And to think I was proud of passing the IL drivers license written exam the other day. (though it had been 15 years since I'd taken a driving test)

Christine,
I have a request. Would you please make sure those kids know how to spell? Also, the difference between 'ask' and 'axe', 'then' and 'than' and 'its' and 'it's', 'their' and 'there' and 'your' and 'you're'.
That's all. Thanks.

PS -Good luck

LOL. As long as they also know the difference between "lose" and "loose" and "sales" and "sells", I'll be good.
