Star to the right and straight on till morning.
Coincidently this last Friday, they played all four of the Jaws movies. My son sat and watched them with me and he was surprised that they had all the elements of a movie that keeps you watching, even if it was the 70's. :D

Rest well Mr. Scheider.

The UKey-day!
We're only a month and a half in, and 2008 is already the most depressing year in showbusiness (well, of my lifetime).

Heath Ledger last month...

...Jeremy Beadle last week...

...and now Roy Scheider.

I'll enter an eternal state of depression if Neil Buchanan dies before I have the opportunity to shake his hand and thank him.

RIP, Roy. In fact, I think I owed him thanks, too. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for Seaquest DSV (and Neil Buchanan, of course).

After 2010, and Jaws seeing Roy in All That Jazz was a mindwarp. One of my fav actors.

Yes, sad about Roy Scheider. I just saw an interview with him where he was talking about his illness. He said, "Every day is a miracle."

All That Jazz for me tonight.

Roy, "It's showtime!" Great career. We'll miss you.

Wow ... rest easy, Roy, and thank you for all the wonderful entertainment you left behind for us.
Ditto. I may even dig out my (video) copy of 2010, blow the dust off it and enjoy.
Double ditto.

I often think he was overlooked in Jaws 2. OK, it's not the original but he did a fine job in the sequel. I always got a real sense of him thinking fuck you to the shark as it approaches him in his dinghy at the end.

Apart from anything else, in Jaws 2, he WAS the MC.

There wasn't Dick Dreyfuss or Robert Shaw or the chemistry between them. The sequel was entirely his show. IMO.

I don't know about that. The girl who spends the entire film screaming did a good job. ;)

He was also in one of the best car chases put on screen, from The Seven-Ups. Maybe not the best movie of its kind, but that chase alone is worth every penny of a rental. And Roy, as usual, was good in it.

He also did a fine acting job in The Marathon Man.
