Judging from the number of first time posters in the Idol thread, I think they already have. ;)

Can't say that about you, though, can we? http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/EmoteTrophy.gif Are you still in the lead?
You're tops, maestrowork. http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Jenna, who has the honor of being the 1000th member on the new board? I think I'm #7.

My goodness, and here's something I've never seen at 8:40 in the morning...

Most users ever online was 509, Today at 08:19 AM.

I have never seen it quite that high, either, for the guest side especially. Most of the time I've seen it, it's been about even members vs. guest. At this rate you'll have the almost 4000 you had on the old board very soon. How long has this one been up now? About a month?

JennaGlatzer
03-17-2005, 06:54 PM
Yep, just over a month. I announced the AW Idol competition in yesterday's newsletter, so I'm sure that's why the traffic bumped. Pretty neat!

And no one even knows the prize yet. :hat:

Maybe you should hold out till the end, to see who's in it for real and not just the prize. Besides if it's something really good, I might have to read 1000 entries!!!

And I was the first (if you don't count Jenna herself).

I didn't win anything. :(

How about smooches from all the ladies who enjoy your posts? Would that be enough of something?

But what percentage of our daily guests are Google spiders? http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/tiere/animal-smiley-087.gif

The offer still stands to borrow my glasses, Sara. http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif They're trifocals, so maybe you can read three posts at one time. http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/images/smilies/Emoterofl5.gif

Poor, Sara. Before it's over, I bet you'll have a better understanding of what editors go through when reading submissions.

What is a google spider?Google spiders are the 'bots that Google uses to gather indexing information for their search engine. If you look under "Who's Online" and page through to the guests, you can see what page a spider is webbing.

We are not alone....

Wow, that subject thread sounds a bit violent for AW. Jenna doesn't like hitting...

Betty, I swear I almost posted something just like that.

Like, "Please stop hitting the members."

You know me too well.

The scary part is when you check the "Who's Online" listing and find a google spider replying to a thread. Maybe some people aren't who they claim to be... Maybe, just maybe, they are them.

*cue spooky music*

I wonder how long one has to be in the Reply page for Google to catch it, or is it a snoop of opportunity? I've found Google results are occasionally some forum's reply window, and the post itself may or may not exist.

Now that's spooky...you decide against posting something, but it's too late, cuz the spiders got ya. Bwahahaha. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/spezial/Fool/pauk.gif

Hey, I'm a somewhat of a pacifist. I would never be able to hit 1000 people! At least not all at once ;)

Okay, those spider thingies are creepy.

I've only been on this board a week or so, and the membership has already risen by 30%. Pretty cool!

Yep, and I finally stopped trying to hit all of them. :D So that anger management course is working, then? Or you're just too busy reading all the new Idol entries ;)?

Don't know if you ever borrowed anyone's glasses for this judging thing, but I'm guessing you'll need some of your own when it's over.

Maybe you could get a sponsorship from Visine?

Personally, I like looking at the Google Ads. Why, lookee up there-- as I'm typing this, there's an ad for Brown Recluse spider bite treatment! :D
