I prefer not to discuss my view. Let's just say that the half a giant Santa I wanted to assassinate with my .22 rifle at Christmastime is still sitting on his waist across the street, and leave it at that.

No photos of it, but the view out my front yard is a country road, and on the other side is only trees. Lots and lots of trees.
Now the view out the kitchen window in a lake. It faces east so the sunrises over the little lake are magnificent.
One of these days I'll take pics.

Yes, the view out the kitchen window (same as walking out the sun porch door) is great. In fact, I no longer mind doing work in the kitchen because it affords such a nice view. I usually eat my breakfast while standing at the kitchen sink so I can watch the sunrise.

My view? A black-top road with speed bumps and a row of houses with dinky yards. Depressing.

Technically this is borrowed door since we are on vacation. The front door of the Inn faces a parking lot BUT this is the scene that I woke up to this morning. It was still desperately cold and the roads were icy so we didn't get to leave the hotel until almost noon.

I wandered the hotel grounds, very carefully, taking some shots while the morning light was still soft. The photos I took later in the day at the park (Zion) are amazing contrasts of color (blue/blue sky, red rocks, white snow, etc.) but you'll have to check my blog in a few days to see more. I told my husband that it was so beautiful that it was hard not to weep.

I said, "God knew what He was doing when He made the snow white." Hubby replied, "He also knew what He was doing when He made the seven dwarfs".

We used to have a nice view of sea and islands, but then they added extensions and a sports arena onto the local school, which blots out most of everything. Damn this infernal thing called "progress."

For what it's worth here's a view from the kitchen window at the back of the house, from last weekend when some snow came a-callin'.

My door views a hallway with really bad brick and tiling. (Apartment :D) My 'door' door views a parking lot with cars and a few trees.

Not very picturesque.

Edit: Actually, it's foggy out there this morning, so the view isn't much of anything right now...

I don't have a picture, but I'm supposed to be a writer so here goes. My front door faces the creek, left wild and almost untamed except for a low-water bridge that edges across to the only house on the other side. The pasture field that leads away from the water ends abruptly at a sudden hill, jutting out of the ground without warning. The hill, covered with patches of trees, mostly scrub cedar, spreads across the horizon, and when the sun rises, it paints the grass orange. Beyond, I can see only the top of the Appalachians, turned blue in the mist.

The view from the front door of my building is usually pretty decent as far as city views go. We can see the park from our front door. But right now they have some horribly ugly scaffolding up, so I'm not posting a picture.

I'd have to take a picture out the back door, because the front faces the street and the houses across it are nothing to write home about. In the back, I have a private oasis with palms, bougainvillea, and oversized jacuzzi. :D

CaroGirl
02-05-2008, 05:25 PM
The view from the front is just a suburban street full of snow and houses.

The back, however, is generally a view of deer. Usually six or seven of them (they travel in groups) munching on whatever got thrown over the fence that day. When the deer aren't there it's just a forest. Lately there have been a lot of grouse (they travel in pairs) and porcupines (solitary, of course. ouch!).

I, likewise, don't know how to post photos. Can I share them from my desktop or do I need to host them at a site? Because I don't have a site on which to host them.

ETA: Really though... THIS (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d42/mysemicharmedlife/Ryan.jpg) was the view from my front door the last house I lived. Ryan wasn't ALWAYS in fatigues and hanging from the tree, but it did happen on occasion.

And HERE (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d42/mysemicharmedlife/swans.jpg) is the view out the back of my mother's house. Those are my swans, and my swan babies. You cannot have them. Unless you are a snapping turtle. In which case, you eat the babies once in a while. You bastard.

And THIS (http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l299/hyphill/philcalebcrazy.jpg) is what I see when I look out back my dad's house. My brother (background) and his friend Phil, guns in hand. Don't worry they're both licensed. Or, go ahead and worry, they're both idiots.

This is mine (in summer, I admit). It's from the front window, at my writing desk, but the door is just to the right of this. Depending on the angle, you see a lot more of the cars. But the nice thing is the light. The street runs pretty much east west, so the tops of the trees catch the first morning light and the last evening light.

Yeah. We have seven well-dressed children, yet the old lady over the road dumps garbage bags of smelly clothes off as if our children are Dickensian waifs. I get so tired of disposing of other people's cast-offs.

I think she hangs out at church run thrift shops, grabbing all she can for no good reason. BTW- over the holidays she deposited a box of outdated cranberry sauce and rice cakes on our porch. Into the dumpster it went. She's gotta croak someday.....
