I got a new outdoor digital thermometer for Christmas.

Yesterday it was 47 degrees.

This morning it's -1.

I liked it better when I didn't know. Brrrrrrr...

I like knowing how cold it is in winter, because it gives me the right to complain, make myself out to be a martyr, and other wholesome activities.

Next year, ask Santa for a snow gauge.

I like my little temperature/windchill factor thingy: it tells me that I need to start my car at least 15 minutes before driving to work, and to put on flannel-lined jeans, a sweater, a down ski jacket, 2 scarves, gloves, a hat, and bring a flask of whiskey with me to walk the dog.

I like it better in the summer, when it tells me to take things off before I go outside.

Geez-Louise, Stew! That brings to mind the time I went to work (in Tucson) slightly chilly, in a gauze blouse and a skirt. I ate outside at noon and was glad I hadn't dressed warmer. By the time I went home, it was snowing lightly. Turns out it melts immediately on something that thin, and my car didn't have heat. I remember shivering uncontrollably on the slow drive home. Nobody there, me included, knew how to drive on snow.

I arrived soaked and cold, but a little drink and a hot bath solved that problem. I recommend it highly!

It's -45 degrees celcius in the Canadian Prairies this morning...that's without the wind chill factor!

I wore a denim jacket to work. Didn't even need it really, but heard it was supposed to cool off.
By the time I left work frozen rain, lashing winds, and 50 degrees cooler.

It was crazy.

or

9 * C / 5 + 32 = F

so -45C = -49F

Oh, and to go along with Maestrowork's amazingly useful F<->C formulas, the integral of x^2 is 2x + C. Don't forget the C, or your teacher will take points off your answer. Don't ask how I know.
