Hmmm. According to AW's rank this week, we're doing a little better than the HBO forums, but just one step behind the Zelda Universe forums.

Huh, go figure.

I saw this board reader thing for the first time earlier this week when I googled myself (because of something someone somewhere on this board said about someone.....) and got a lot of "board reader" hits -- mostly from AW postings about food. Go figure.

I see no stats for "board views" and I would be very interested in that one. There are two forums here that seem to have very heavy "lurker traffic" and I'd be curious about the data on the number of views. Those are the Scriptwriter forum and Bewares and Background Checks. Both of those forums always have a very high head-count as far as how many people are "viewing," but the number of posts per day doesn't come near enough the alleged number of viewers. So there are plenty of silent observers on those two forums.

I've seen similar stat sites for Usenet newsgroups over the years, but this is the first I've seen for BBS's. It makes sense, I don't think there are that many different BBS programs out there. AW runs on vBulletin, as it says at the bottom of the page. The search programs need only know the formatting, then they can read all the posts and collect the info. There are a few sites that use their own custom discussion board software, such as eBay's - I wonder (though not enough to look) if they're indexed.

I guess they could pull the "thread views" number out from the thread listings. I would imagine Bewares and Background Checks gets lots of hits from people Googling names of agents and publishers, and discovering AW that way. I'd have to ask Martha Steward, but I suspect that is a Good Thing.

Regrettably, tin and aluminum foil hats have always given a false sense of security. This well-controlled study using microwave generators, spectrum analysers and other really expensive lab equipment at MIT tells the story:

http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/

I think Depleted Uranium would work well, though a football helmet made of it that would normally weigh half a pound when made of hard plastic would weigh 25 pounds if made of DU. Hope you have strong neck muscles.

Your quick, wit.

A little too quick.

Is that even possible? I think not.

Yeah, yeah. You boys do know I'm lobbing them up to you real nice and gentle so you'll be sure to swing away, right?

And no one answered my question.

And yes, I called you boys.

Punch buggy green, no punch backs, Kitten.

Wouldn't it be eerie if this thread showed up on the next top 10. Oooh. Kind a like falling back on itself...the thread on the top 10 the top 10 on the thread on the thread on the top 10 on the thread on the top 10. It's spooky, really.

It's more adorable when they don't know.

Quick has spoken and Kitten is really better than some of the others he came up with.

I'd love to see this thread break to the top. Bump the comment that seems stuck about my husband's underwear. There, now that's sure to do the trick.

I'm thinking KTC spends way to much time on here. (They don't count OP posts right? Whew! That must be why I haven't made the list yet!)

Hey, Kad...I still get my writing done. I'm a huge multi-tasker. I write more between 4am and 6am than other people write all day. I have a Word window open right now and am jumping between here and there.

KTC

oh. no. I have to go drive my daughter to work now. I'm sure I'll be leaking during the drive across town. If I don't get stuck getting out of my court. Not only do they plow it last, but they bury it in too.

Sorry, that sucks. I remember last year when I had to dig out an alley. No fun - that was two weeks before I moved. Couldn't wait till March, oh no, had to blizzard in Feb.

Good luck.

See, I simply point at a teenager, show him cash, hand him a shovel, and say: mush!
Instant snow plow.
