Anne started the Weird names of town and cities thread, because we had a conversation about some funny sounding names of places. However I am sure all of you have run into someone with an unusual name.. Here are the two that stick out in my mind.


April Love (Love being her husband's last name, her parents didn't do that to her, her maiden name was a real long polish name ending in ski.

Toy Glasscock I know it sounds like a joke, but he showed me his ID when he came to work on the phone.

All but one of those were in my high school. Must have been something in the water. Even though I hated my name I felt quite lucky, seeing how much worse it could get.

I was having lunch in a restaurant once with my mom when she said, "You'll never believe the name of my new gynecologist."

I was stunned.

Holding up a hand as if to quiet the band, she said, "Doctor Lipps! I swear to gawd. It's spelled with two p's, but isn't that funny?"

I love my mom, but she knows just how to embarrass me in public...

I heard of a woman who named her twin sons Lemonjello (pronounced La mon ja low) and Oranjello (O ron ja lo)
