That should be a sufficient explanation for my vote...that and the fact that I rescue cats and foster abandoned litters.

Sugar gliders are my favorite. Pretty cool critters, and they don't bite. This is pretty close to actual size.

Holy cow. Look at all the votes for dawgs.

I should have put cows as a choice. And ferrets. And rabbits. And horses.

Well, to tell you the truth...

I guess I wasn't a very good pet owner. We don't have any fish anymore. Every time we had a goldfish, he didn't live very long. Overfeeding, the wrong water temperature, who knows?

My kids conducted a funeral every time one of our fish died. Then they buried it in our backyard. They got very emotionally attached.

Anything that comes into my place alive dies soon after its arrival. Plants, flowers, don't really last for me. Absolute, Stoli (my goldfish) and Jager (my frog) lasted the longest. I had them for about 6 months, but they died shortly after a South Side Irish Parade party. I think someone poured beer in the tank. :( I miss those guys.

Our guinea pig died a few weeks ago, and we buried her in the back yard with full ceremonies. Last week our dog was spotted running around the yard with a frozen animal corpse in his mouth. We (me and my six year old) retrieved the corpse. Yup - you guessed it - it was our beloved little Cocoa the Guinea Pig. Except my son didn't recognize her. After examining the body he decided it was a young ground hog that had died of cold. Phew! And Ew! It was almost as bad as the time the dog was running around with a rotting turkey carcass in his mouth.

My fave critter is my gekko - Nacho. Silent, beautiful, clean, and interesting to watch. You should see him bite crickets in half. It's so cool!
