She says she wants to meet me after work.

I get where she says to go at 6:30 (after work). I get a TXT. She's running late (she sells high-dollar items, and must stick around to complete sales...) she gets off work. She calls me. We talk while she's driving. She assures me she's almost there. She's almost there. Almost. Fifteen minutes, tops.

My cellphone battery is dying. I say, "Cool, my battery's dying, and I'll see you soon."

She's still not here. Fifteen minutes she says. Try half an hour, and no sign.

None.

I'm chilling at a webcafe for two hours typing away thinking "Well, she's mighty late. Ought I to be upset, or no? Hm. I'll just work on this scene a little longer..."

Let's hope she's not working on her scene. Good luck with the wait. I'd ditch her and visit a nudie bar.

Very rude. Unless she got hit by a bus or something on the way...then you should probably forgive her.

Well there's late "Honey, I have a surprise for you." and then there's late "Honey, my boyfriend has a surprise for you."

Which would you prefer?

No doubt either conversation will go downhill quickly after the opening line.

Right into the toilet.

Wait...you asked a girl to meet you at a webcafe?

Yeah, she ain't coming, dude.

And, unless you've been dating a girl for a while, you never let her keep you waiting longer than a half hour. Any longer than that, and you leave.

Her loss.

Nope, no excuse for anyone not showing up: short of death. There are better souls out there.

he could be the fool on the wrong block. you guys never can see that. you are the ones to go off all half cocked and leave the scene and then refuse to call or even admit there was an understanding to meet much less listen to a viable excuse like i ran into my old room mates ex-fiancee and you will never believe what that bitch is up to now.... but i digress.--s6

Kindly note that my comment was not gender biased. We're talking about an individual here who called to say they would be there very soon and never showed up.

This is rude and insensitive of any person.

But, thanks for generalizing your bias , SS.

There could be a great story in this. Like she got carjacked the block before the cafe, but she went super badass ninja on them and hog-tied them with their own tighty-whities and had to escort them to the local brig. Her cell phone battery had died and anyway, she forgot his number from the slight case of temporary amnesia she sustained from when Thug #3 clocked her in the temple with his big fake Rolex. But she'll find Badducky and ask her to be her date to the ceremony where the Mayor gives her the key to the city. They'll be wed on the spot and this chick is so cool that she'll figure a way for BD to gestate the children and they'll spawn a gold-medal winning Olympic hockey team together.

And they all lived happily ever after.

Optimist.
