Stopping in to introduce myself

priceless1

Hello, all,
I'm finally posting at the behest of Ed Williams, who urged me to come in out of the rain. Well, okay, it isn't raining, but I've had a share of thunderstorms. I'm half of Behler Publications, the latest topic du jour on the PA threads.

I only mention that for clarification purposes only, not to inflame what is certainly a non-issue. I realize there are many, many reasons for angst and disillusionment. But please know the sun will continue to rise every morning and the birds will continue to poop on clean cars. There are plenty of honest, decent publishers whose mission statements are founded on honoring the author and producing professional work.

I wish each and every one of you a hearty hello and the very best of everything.

Nice to meet you. I hope you enjoy your time on the AW site.

And best wishes to you and your company. (although I was a bit disheartened to learn that birds will likely continue the practice of pooping on my car.)

Hi, Lynn! Welcome!! And birds are non-discriminatory - they poop on statues, too...

By the way, if you do get an urge to start discussing your adventures with PA, please see the note at the top of the BC board: it should not be done in a new thread, but in one of the still-open PA threads that already exist. You can post in here something like "If you'd like to know more about my PA adventures, see my post at [insert URL of whatever PA thread you added to here, using "link" button to your left]", but that's all. Otherwise, there's a distinct danger that PA ranting would take over every thread in here and we'd have to plant explosives and run like hell. So to speak.

Warning heeded

Yes, Betty, I do know that. Thank you. It is my sincere wish that my time not be spent on that endeavor, but one of upward and onward. I only wanted to reference who I am for the sake of clarity. I've seen plenty of other posts where the faux pas was committed and was only too happy the bombs weren't aimed at me.<img border=0 src="http://www.absolutewrite.com/images/emotessh.gif" />

Hi Lynn,

How are sales and distribution going at Behler? Feel free to email me if you want the figures kept quiet for now. Just looking for information to base a rating upon.

Regards,
Dave

Lynn, it is a pure pleasure to have you here...

...I very much respect what you are doing, I think all of us here want your publishing house to succeed. Just hang out and have fun, there is a great group of people here, and you will definitely add to that.

Welcome again!

Well, thanks, Ed. I think I'll do just that. Y'all make me feel so welcome.

Of Behler Books stops by. How's it going, Lynn?

Hi, Jim, and Brady. Wow, this is an old thread. Things are going well, thank you. We're still doing the negotiation thing with a book distributor and some other companies that will be very helpful in getting our books nationally distributed. Sales and signings are up and our marketing team has their hands full.

One of our books was just optioned for a movie and I couldn't be more thrilled for the author.

We're really thrilled with the impressive level of writing that's coming across our desks these days. It's an honor to work with such intelligent and creative people.

We've learned so much in the short time we've been around and have met fabulous people who have been nothing but kind and helpful. I personally thank Publisher's Weekly, Bloomsbury, Mid-West and ForeWord Magazines for being particularly helpful in giving us feedback on how we could improve.

And, of course, I thank Jim and Jenna for always being a beacon of information. I've yet to know anyone who could gently prod while smiling. A true gift to you both.
