Inspired by the annoying people at work thread, and all this talk of stupid words and phrases that will never catch on.

I'm going to infest this board with Scottish slang and see if any of it does take.

First up: bogging. Preferably without the end-G as in boggin'. It means bad, nasty, disgusting, particularly with regard to food or smells.

As in, "This cake tastes totally boggin', like old man's arse!"

See if you can get the word into a sentence while I reboot and try to come up with some more Scottishisms.

Splendid! Now try to get this word into a sentence:

Stookie - the plaster applied to a broken limb.

The stookie on my mates leggin dried in spats. Like a bloke without any sense he took me hammer and smashed the wet cast then screamed.

"What the fuck you do that for?"

He tossed me a evil eye and said "Beast be in me leg, not a flog."

Now an expression of disbelief. Instead of saying "I am having a hard time believing you are being 100% honest with me," us Scots use the more economical, "Pish!"

But not in Ye Olde English way of saying, "Nonsense!" It has to be said with much more venom.

Two examples: "Yer talkin' pish!" or "Loadapish!"

Although, of course, the word on its own, said with enough contempt, should be sufficient.

Proceed.
