It's a trap. Get an axe.

Next he'll want to compare pictures of your mailbox, you know, trying to pretend he's got a cute cow one. Then your kitchen table. Then your bathtub...

And it all leads up to a thread titled - Hey! Let's see a pic of your bank statement and social security card - and then we'll never hear from Spooky again.

Just the other day I deleted shedloads of stuff.

DON'T WORRY, not stuff I'd written. Just jokes people had sent in word.doc format, lists, letters...old gubbins I don't need any more. I have surprisingly few word.doc files of my own creation, because I don't write short stories and I handwrite all my poetry into a moleskine. The only things I keep on my PC are the latest drafts of my novels and all of my photographs.

Why do you have an absolutewrite folder?

Anyway I have a Writing folder.
Inside that is my Blog folder and Fiction folder (and work folders).
Inside the Fiction folder are folders for each novel, a short story folder and a poetry folder.

and I handwrite all my poetry into a moleskine. .How many moles do you go through in a year?

Here's (http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg264/doriangrayspictures/Screenshot1.jpg) the folder where I keep my WsIP.

Yes, I do have a photo of Trent Reznor in bondage gear on my computer. Problemwiththat? Huh?

As for the other stuff...Emma sent me a photo of her two rabbits humping. And I have a copy of seun's novel, too - heh heh. Jealous. Yeah, you is.

That's your writing folder?

scarletpeaches

It's the folder where everything goes before I sort things into their 'proper' folder - usually my pen drive.

But no, I don't have a writing folder as such. I don't have enough word documents to justify one. Only what you see in that screen shot.

And my Bondage Trent photo and some embarrassing videos of my friend Emma and her flatmate...

Shadow_Ferret
01-11-2008, 07:11 AM
And her WsIP. Not her WIPs, as everyone else on Earth calls them. But nooooo, scarlet has to be different.

I'm just getting into the writing mood again. I figured this would help. There are too many stories to edit, complete, and put away for later. I've been in a bit of a writing block of late.

That's all.

Cheers,

Jon

I just have a folder with subsections for "Prose," "Poetry," "Sketches," "PDFs," and one for my novel. I'm not all that productive, so there's not a whole lot in them. But it's quality! I swear!

Me too. Porn's one of the few pleasures left to me. It's good to keep your hand in. ;)

Here's a gig of some work. I have a few other writing folders that I keep off-line.

What's your writing looking like today? Do you organize into separate window folders?

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k272/SpookyWriter/folders.jpg
I just want to click on the "Deceased Family Calling Plan" file. Is there a way to get free long distance off your dead relatives? I'm on that one.

My poems are all saved by their titles
My novels are all saved by their titles...one file per novel.
My ideas for future writings are saved by whim...whatever I feel like calling the idea file is the title it gets. I never know what's inside until I open it...so I guess my filing is not as it should be.
My articles are saved by title/magazine.
My short stories are filed by their titles.

MY FOLDERS:

NOVELS
ARTICLES
POETRY
IDEAS
SHORT STORIES

SUBMITTED
ACCEPTED
REJECTED

I move files from the first five into the last three as needed.

Nice hiding all your porn, Spook.

My writing folder is rather small - I'm only working on my novel and a couple of short stories. They're arranged in an WIP folder, with subfolders for short stories, submitted stories, and novel. I have another folder for all things related to my published book, including press releases, etc. But that's it.

Please note the blatant plug for ORION's novel LOTTERY - available in all good bookshops now! :D

I just finished reading Lottery. I thought it was beautiful. But I have to say I kept getting angrier and angrier as that bastid family got closer. Yuck...they were badduns!

I have my copy read to me by exquisite boys dressed in cloth of gold. When they are not tending to my literary needs, it's kept in a safety-deposit box in a Buckingham Palace vault-

Okay, that's a lie. Is it published in Scotland?

I read it. And I loved it. I put down yours and picked up Lottery. Now I'm on to Chabon's latest. Yours is staying with me, Ray. I loved it.

And I finally know where the chocolate pants reference comes from!!

should i be offended that none of you read my book? ;)Ray, I keep trying to order your book at Amazon and it's just frustrating. This happened last year. They say four books are available and then each time I select a site, "Oppps. Book not available." or some other crap.

We're sorry. You've requested more of The Pacific Between, than the 1 available from the seller you've selected. Click here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1933016329/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance) to return to the product detail page and see if additional quantities are available from another seller.

Plus, I've got practically a whole bookcase just full of research notes, mostly (but not entirely) organized and indexed.

897 items, totalling 358.2 MB

That's not all "writing" though. That includes subfolders in projects for associated research materials and notes, also folders with submission guidelines and my tracking spreadsheets. Stuff like that.

Eek. 1,919 files in 100 folders; 580 megs. And that includes many zip files with heaps of older works. I'd go crazy if it wasn't organized, so mine has "books", "collaborations", "fiction", "Fragments", "games", "journal", "nonfiction", "poems", "samples" and "scripts" at the top level, each with its own categories.

Alongside my writing (not counted here) is my "art" (3.1G, 3322 files) and "photography" (spawns like rabbits ... 1.6G, 1768 files). Both these are just the past 2-3 years, with older works on a stack of disks. And, um, two 100-gig external hard drives of past video/film projects -- no current projects underway.

On the funny side, my writing for gaming markets used to be in nonfiction, but it's a unique mix of reality and b.s. and one day I moved it up a level -- it ain't quite real and it ain't quite fiction.

I have my WIPs in 'My Documents', each with their own folder where I keep cuts and old drafts. I have a 'Writing' folder though that's for misc ideas and stuff, and is also quite sad as it's where all the dead WIPs go.
