A great one passes away

I just read that, so sad. But honestly, I thought he'd died like, years ago.

a couple of quotes of his:

"It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves."

"Nobody climbs mountains for scientific reasons. Science is used to raise money for the expeditions, but you really climb for the hell of it."


He wrote a marvelous book, A View From the Summit.

An amazing life, well done Sir Hillary, well done.

Now this is a mug who did it without the anguish of vanity. Rest in Peace.



You made it to the top, again.

It's pretty newsworthy here in Oklahoma, akiwi. What an incredible life he lived... with just the right amount of chutzpah to make him real.

I just loved that wonderful face.

I loved how he went back to help the people who live around Everest with schools and health care.

A good, well-spent, exciting, worthwhile long life. RIP.

Wow. He was still alive? I assumed he died decades ago.
