Greets all:

This is a little out of left field, however, I wanted to give AWers a chance before I pursued other places.

I'm creating an animated feature that has a no-kidding script that should run between 10 and 15 minutes. I'm building it using nothing but video games. The genre is called machinima (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machinima). If you've seen 'Red vs. Blue' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_vs._Blue), you're in the ballpark. It uses multiple video game platforms. Synopsis: This film is about a father who must win an air race to save his family's ranch. There are some early runs of video on my blog (http://jasontudor.com/blog/). Goal is to eventually show the film in Georgia short film shows (and beyond) and contests; and also to see if I can do it.

So, here's where you come in.

I need five voices, three male, one female, one swing character. They must be American voices, or really good faked American voices (see, I left the door open, rest of the world!). Here's a breakdown of what specifically I want:

17-ish, smart, comfortable teenager happy in his own shell, CHRISTOPHER, male (most lines)
40ish father who flies airplanes for a living, CLAUDE, male (second most lines)
A course marshal (one line, easy!), COURSE MARSHAL, swing
A 50-something aviation corporation owner, proud, clever, HAYMAN, male
a 40-something wife, RACHEL, femaleNow, you don't HAVE to be 17, 40, or 50 or whatever to play the roles. I just need folks who can SOUND the role. Vocal quality. Delivery. But don't think you have to be a professional to do it. Let me hear your voice. We'll go from there. :) If that's you, here's how we work:

You need a microphone and some decent knowledge of how to record audio on your computer. Your microphone should produce decent sound. Not spectacular. Just pretty good.
Tell me what your auditioning for based on this post. Read a passage of something -- anything -- from a book. read the telephone book. Something. Record it. Save the audio clip. This is your audition. if you can save it as a Windows Media file or MP3, even better. Read for about 30 seconds. Let me know what you sound like.
You'll need to get me the file. if it's larger than 5MB, I'll need to give you an FTP address. More on that when you need it. Under 5MB, send to jasontudor @ gmail.comOnce the audition file, I'll listen and then get back to you. We'll talk specifics and I'll give you the script. Then we'll get rolling.

I have to have the voices in place before I can start animating with any vigor. So, if you'd like to play, I'd love to have you. ETA: I'll take 30 second to one minute auditions through the weekend!

Please PM me for other questions.

I look forward to hearing from you. :)

I can only send a recording if one of my kids shows me how to do it. Supposedly I have a mike built into my computer, but...

Kid Two has excellent computer audio equipment. Whether he can do 17 (he's 21), and whether he has any interest, I don't know, but he might. I've emailed him a link to this post. Being a student home on break, he's unlikely to appear until late this afternoon. With luck, by then you'll have several auditions in the works.

Maryn, who thinks this would be fun

My son's a voice artist, he's known locally as The Man of a Thousand Voices. He'd be interested in this, could he apply? Or is it just for AW members?

Bump for the OP to check PM's...

It's my understanding from reading the OP he's just asking on AW first, and anyone who gets the message is welcome to apply. And at this rate, I may be too late for the party!

If I can figure out how to do it on my computer, I'll send it along to you. I'm female, and thirty-mumblemumble. I could pull off 40-something.

Let me see if I can find an old podcast of mine and I'll send it along. Sounds like fun! Get it.. SOUND.

I kill me.

Shoot! I'd love to have done this except I don't have a microphone. Good luck!

I'd love to do this, no mic though. But I am in Georgia so let me know when you show it. I'd love to be there.

Okay, with the help of my youngest son, I have emailed you a recording.

That was easier than I thought it would be!

I did ask my voicing son, who normally would have leapt at this, but he's too busy with other work right now as it turns out. Thanks for the open call though, very cool. :)

(Did my son get in touch? He sounded quite eager, but he's a little reserved with people he's never met, not even online.)

Maryn, aware it's none of her business

Maryn, I don't *think* so. All AWers and one outsider so far. :)

I have a seventeen-year-old son, Jason.

Do you still need a teenager?

I'll accept auditions through Monday evening, then I've got some listening to do. :)

Thanks to everyone who made the effort. I suspect I'll have some AW voices in this bad boy yet. :)
