It's never a burden and always a pleasure. ;)

I won't have one for much longer! But when the pressure got too much, when the managers really crossed the line of decency, I seriously considered walking out. Manners are that important to me when it comes to the people who pay my wages. They can't buy the right to be rude to me, at any price.

your family

I don't have one.

your insecure friends...

Don't have any!

We all have bad times, but if someone crosses from 'insecure' to 'klingon', I drop them. Might sound harsh, but I look after me first, then other people.

people who look up to you

Are there any? :D

I help as best I can...

No. But it's when you stop trying, you find yourself becoming more at ease with the real you, more open and honest, less concerned with how other people view you...and that in turn draws more people to you.

where

does

that

...leave

YOU?

Good question.

What?

I never said I had all the answers!

I can still carry a 60 lb. bale of hay however far it needs to be carried. Does that count?

;)

seriously, though, I carried too much too long, put myself last for decades, and eventually paid quite a price via a mini-nervous breakdown. These days I carry very little life stuff and I'm grateful for the break from it.

I always heard the statement,"God only gives you what you can carry". When I was young I thought he was talking about your back. Now that I'm older I figure he was talking about my butt....since it's larger. I carry a load and I do it well. Now I'm going to go take a Xanex and have a breakdown.

This reminds me of the children's book called "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.
The tree just gave and gave to the boy until all that was left was a stump.

Half the time, no.

Oh yes, that's probably the thing I do the best.

people who want guidance...
I'm not much of a guide.

The tree just gave and gave to the boy until all that was left was a stump.

That was the saddest love story ever. EVER.

I carry myself and my children. I may help others in passing but I cannot do their work for them.

I find myself energized by all those things you listed, Angelinity. Honestly, the heaviest burden seems to be my own laziness and self-centeredness which sap the deeper joy from life. Don't get me wrong - taking time to refresh and renew yourself is essential, but the well-balanced yoke is light and gives life purpose. I'll be dead soon enough anyway - plenty of time to rest then.
