I'm going to write a story about gangs, but the gangs of the right now era, not the gangs of the 1920's, and being a sheltered whatsit from Sunnyvale, California (reknown for having exactly one letter difference from Buffy the Vamprie Slayer's hometown, Sunnydale, California), I haven't actually met any gang members or been in any gangs.
If any of you have the know how of how gangs operate, how they act, how they talk and so on, I would like some insight.
So, the points I'd like to cover)
A) Ranking, how are you ranked in a gang
B) Mode of speach, do they really swear as much as they do in movies?
C) How early an age do people join gangs? I've heard of frighteningly young kids, like 6 or 7, joining gangs. Is that true?
D) General gang info.
My story is of a young (not sure how young) guy who falls in with gangsters and starts trading drugs, illigal compter software, guns, and such on a permenent Martian coloy.
