Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I just started a sort of news/reviews blog for books, and I'd like to interview authors. What would be the best way of approaching someone and asking? Or should I wait until I've got some clout or something....?

Who you ask and how depends on what you have to offer. I get requests all the time to send ARCs for review, or material for somebody's blog, or whatever. I seldom say yes, largely because the sites are amateurish and the owner's motive/agenda is a giant question mark in my mind.

Unless your site is generating lots of buzz and traffic, you may not find too many authors willing to step up -- and most of those will be new and/or self-published.

That's my guess, at any rate.
