First Candle for you!

So I changed my avatar!!! BIG DEAL.:tongue

But this Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent. I'm not a believer, but I DO like traditions.

Therefore I light this first candle for all of you AW-members.

I don't really know why, it's just that I was taught to respect this tradition...

Hence;

To all of you

Here is someone lighting a candle for you!

Well, I'm not religious, but I DO remember from when I was a kid and had to sing in the choir that Advent is sort of the time of anticipation... And I also do remember the sentiment... WOW

Of course, now that I am old, and am blessed with a computer I googled it;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent

That would be the dry, scent-less, silent version!

I think it's a lovely sentiment. It's wonderful that you have such a great memory from childhood and are passing it on. Thanks again, Melis, and same to you.

Happy Advent! What a sweet post. :)

(For those not familiar: a new candle is lit on the Advent wreath for each of the four weeks of Advent, symbolizing the coming of the "Light of the World" at Christmas. Usually three candles are purple (for the penitential/preparatory season) and one is rose/pink (for the joyful hope of the season). The third Sunday is "Gaudete Sunday" (Rejoicing Sunday, roughly) when the pink candle is lit.)

Thank you for the candle!

And now that it's December, I need to change MY avatar, and one thing it's NOT gonna say is "WINNER NANOWRIMO..."

Been a Christian my whole life; never heard of or "celebrated" Advent.

*shrug*
