I'm pretty sure that's a scene from Ralph Bakshi's far superior animated version of Lord of the Rings (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077869/). The Council of Rivendell meets to discuss Frodo's diaper fetish.

the baby lives to age 35 or so, but then, well, without giving it ALL away, the name "Judas" became infamous for the ultimate betrayal.

This part of the story (depicted by the baby pic above) is documented in the made-for-TV Special "A Charlie Brown Christmas," but it seems the cannon is incomplete, as I don't recall a Charlie Brown Easter.

It's actually got nothing to do with being PC, even though it's no real secret I'm a bleeding-heart knee-jerk commie liberal. :)

When I was a kid, a big part of the Christmas season was hearing stories and traditions from different cultures, religions, and regions. My mother read to us (she'd given away the TV set when my little sis came home from first grade and declared she saw no reason to ever learn to read) and she'd read everything from historical pieces about St. Nick, to traditional regional winter/solstice/yule recipes and traditions, to the nativity story straight from the book of St. Luke.

It's just how I grew up celebrating Christmas. So if anyone wants to post a pic or tell a story about their own childhood holiday seasons, I'd love it.

I think all the different avatars are cool. They remind me that this isn't just Christmastime, but that several other holidays are celebrated at the same time.

I know a few people who would have a problem with all the different avatars, but I think the changes every day or so are good.

You're fortunate, in that respect, Mac. Lord, if I stepped into another church other than Catholic, I was told I'd more or less, have a seat reserved in hell. Shame, since I've always had a natural interest in other cultural approaches to spirituality. An internal inclination of mine for as long as I can remember.

Although, my mom is more into other cultures than my dad ever was. My dad always had Sinatra and Crosby cranked up. I think he was anticipating a Norman Rockwell Christmas, w/ the fire going. The stockings hung w/ care, the scotch on the rocks, the perfect tree, etc. His rules usually ruined it somewhere along the line, but he tried.

So, I remember a lot of stomach aches, mostly. Lots of tension. Pretty decorations, though and some nice presents. Sometimes, stories. That all depended on how things went.

These days, I'm working on creating my own Christmas, making it what I think it ought to be. Family, whatever that means. Friends I want to be w/, possibly my mom's last Christmas. More focus on the reason for the season. The spiritual center of it.

Bolding Mine.

We had a similar situation in the church I went to. The only difference was, I was a Baptist. The preacher gave lots of reasons why we ought never to set foot in a Catholic church ... or a Presbyterian ... or a Pentecostal ... and definitely anything that had the word 'Charismatic' attached to it. And definitely we were only to use the King James Version of the Bible. It was the Only Right Bible, after all!

Yeah, I know where you're coming from, and I'm just glad there's more to this season than trans-denominational bickering. :)

The more I look back, though, I also find a lot of wonderful memories scattered amongst the not-so-good ones. They bring a smile to my face every time I think about them.

I have vague memories, before we moved from New York to California, of Christmas w/ my grandparents, aunts, uncles and a few cousins (the rest hadn't been born, yet). I was barely 6, when we left, so they are hazy, but they're good ones. They feel good, anyway.
