Hmmm, handguns are rare here and I'm glad. Our police are not even armed in the normal course of their duties.

I think that I've read that it is statistically more likely that a gun owner will die from a bullet fired from their own gun, than it is that they will successfully defend themselves using that gun. Not sure of the accuracy of that, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Here in Thailand, Thais can have all the guns they want but foreigners can't have any. So I stay on very good terms with my landlady's husband, who feeds my cat when I'm away and who's packing heat 24/7.
